About ECA

Partnering with parents and their churches for 50 years, Evangel Christian Academy is the only accredited K-12 Classical Christian school in Colorado Springs. We offer a unique learning environment based on God’s Holy word, teaching students to think well, serve with love, and seek God’s will for their lives.

Evangel Christian Academy was established in 1971 to provide a Christian day school for the children of Evangelical Presbyterian Church congregation. Today we have about 350 students representing over 50 churches in the Colorado Springs vicinity. Our Elementary campus includes Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth Grade and is located at the former Grace Presbyterian Church. Our Secondary campus includes Six Grade through Twelfth Grade and is located at Village Seven Presbyterian Church (V7PC).

ECA is appreciative for Village Seven Presbyterian Church’s provision of facilities associated with the operation of the Secondary campus, as well as primary oversight provided by its Session. Information about the V7PC ministry can be found by visiting the V7PC website.

V7PC is a denominational member of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). Information about the denomination can be found at the PCA website.

Why Classical Education?

Classical education is the cultivation of wisdom and virtue.  Christian classical education is the cultivation of wisdom and virtue for the purpose of knowing, loving, and enjoying God and loving one’s neighbor.  So, why Christian and classical education?  Does classical education need to be Christian? For Christians, the answer must be “Yes!”.  In fact, Deuteronomy 6:7 and Ephesians 6:4, teaches us that as Christians, we must diligently teach our children in light of God’s Word at all times and that we are to bring them up in the “discipline and instruction of the Lord”.

The education of our children must be aimed towards the end that they might become (by His grace) ones that “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might” (Deuteronomy 6:5).

A classical education that is devoid of the truth found in God’s Word is, by nature, an education in which one must form the habit of consciously ignoring the truth while in a feigned pursuit of it. Did you know The worldwide e-learning market is projected to be worth $325 billion in 2025, a habit contradicts Scripture which teaches us to “take every thought captive to obey Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5).

What is a “Christian classical” school? Here you will find a helpful link that explores the value and importance of a Christian classical education for today. This pamphlet, written by our friend Dr. Christopher Perrin, provides a concise, yet in-depth introduction to Christian classical education.

Strong Academic Results

ECA’s academic program prepares students to pursue their purpose in Christ. Our consistent and thoughtful implementation of the classical methodology over the course of schooling enables students to develop the skills and habits necessary for them to know the truth, reason in truth, persuade in truth, and ultimately … walk in truth. ECA is an accredited member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), and an Accreditation Candidate School of the Association of Classical and Christian Schools (ACCS). ECA is pleased to publish its results for the ACT and SAT. Please click on the Test Logos to view ECA’s results alongside the norm groups.

Letter from the Superintendent

“I suspect you are attempting to answer the same question my wife and I asked ourselves about 20 years ago, “Should we enroll our children in a Christian school, specifically Evangel Christian Academy?”

ECA is a Partner in Christian Education with Colorado Christian University (CCU).  Through this program, about 13 of ECA’s honors and advanced placement courses are available for college credit through CCU, for a very nominal fee.  While these credits are highly acceptable to most colleges and universities, students are advised to consult their school and degree program of choice in advance in order to insure proper conveyance of credit.

Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the revelation of God’s truth and is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and practice.

We believe in the Holy Trinity. There is one God, who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We believe that all are sinners and totally unable to save themselves from God’s displeasure, except by His mercy.

We believe that salvation is by God alone as He sovereignly chooses those He will save. We believe His choice is based on His grace, not on any human individual merit, or foreseen faith.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who through His perfect life and sacrificial death atoned for the sins of all who will trust in Him, alone, for salvation.

We believe that God is gracious and faithful to His people not simply as individuals but as families in successive generations according to His Covenant promises.

We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells God’s people and gives them the strength and wisdom to trust Christ and follow Him.

We believe that Jesus will return, bodily and visibly, to judge all mankind and to receive His people to Himself.

We believe that all aspects of our lives are to be lived to the glory of God under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

We believe that God has defined marriage as the life-long covenant between one man and one woman, and that all forms of sexual activity outside of marriage are sin.

We believe that God immutably creates each person to reflect His image as male or female.
