Mr. Bob DeRuiter, B.A., Business Education: Trinity Christian College
Prior to coming to ECA in 2000, Mr. DeRuiter taught business classes at Chicago Christian High School. Mr. DeRuiter serves as ECA Secondary Principal, Academic Advisor, and ECA Baseball Coach and teaches Computer Applications and Advanced Computer Applications. Mr. Matt Holst, B.A., Sec. Ed.: Washington Baptist College; M.A., Hist. Theology: Westminster Theological Seminary
In addition to teaching Bible classes at ECA and serving as Director of Spiritual Life, Mr. Holst is the father of four young children and serves as a deacon at Forestgate Presbyterian Church. Mr. Justin Kohl, B.A., Communications: University of Colorado at Colorado Springs
Mr. Kohl, a Colorado Springs native, has worked the past six years primarily as a business consultant with the U.S. Army. He coached boys' basketball for twelve years at Air Academy High School is currently the Boys' C Team Coach at ECA. In addition to serving as Dean of Students, Mr. Kohl teaches Genesis-Joshua 7 and Judges-Poets 8, the Junior High Bible classes. Mrs. Sandra LaCerte, B.A., Political Science: Colorado State University; M.A., Educational Media: University of Northern Colorado
Mrs. LaCerte began serving as full-time Librarian-Media Specialist at ECA in 1991 and currently serves in that capacity at the Secondary campus in addition to being Assistant Dean, Female Students. "I believe that biblically, the main premise of teaching in a Christian school begins with the foundation that all true knowledge and wisdom comes from God. Because the written word can be a powerful medium to proclaim knowledge and wisdom, it is important to use God's standard, His Word, as the measure of truth. Therefore, the library media program endeavors to assist students and teachers in developing important information skills and to discern and to use reliable, accurate and authoritative research resources." Mr. Don Steiner, B.S. Kinesiology: California Polytechnic State Univ., San Luis Obispo; M.A., Sports Administration: University of Northern Colorado
Entering his sixth year at ECA, Mr. Steiner serves as ECA Vice Principal and Athletic Director, as well as Physical Education instructor. Previously he worked at Lockheed Martin in the Learning and Development Department and coached football at Colorado Springs Christian School. "One of my favorite verses comes from 1 Tim 4:7-8. It speaks of physical training being of some value (perfect for a sports guy), but also talks about godliness being good in all things, both present and future. I desire that our students see the big picture and understand that their actions have consequences, both good and bad, and if you choose to be godly in those actions then those consequences will be blessed by our Lord." |

Mrs. Traci Aragon, B.A., Psychology: University of Colorado
Mrs. Aragon joins the faculty of ECA to teach Computer Applications, Advanced Computer Applications, and Yearbook, in addition to serving as Administrative Assistant in the ECA Business Office. "I look forward to teaching students how enriched their lives can be by learning to use computers and how God has created all things, including the knowledge and desire for us to invent technology." Rev. Mark Bates, B.A. cum laude, Greek; Bryan College; M. Div.: Reformed Theological Seminary
Mr. Bates is Senior Pastor of Village Seven Presbyterian Church. Prior to moving to Colorado, he was a church planter and pastor in Orlando, Florida. At ECA, Mr. Bates teaches Senior Seminar, which equips ECA Seniors with the skills necessary for a lifetime of study of God's Word and God's World. Mrs. Kristen Bolar, Voice and Piano Studies at Evangel College, Colorado College, Georgia State University
Mrs. Bolar currently instructs Vocal Music at the Secondary campus and is the Director of Music at Grace Presbyterian Church as well. Mrs. Bolar has taught music at the Dance & Arts Center in Peachtree City, Georgia; and her performance career has included singing with the Colorado Springs Chorale, the Pikes Peak Ringers, and Entourage, as well as many opportunities as a guest soloist in churches and concerts across the United States. Mr. Scott Bruce, B.A., Music Education: Luther College
Mr. Bruce, a retired member of the USAFA Band and former Music Director at Village Seven and Grace Presbyterian Churches, is ECA's Secondary Band Director. Mr. Bruce and his wife Paula have two sons who are ECA graduates, and Mr. Bruce has also served on the ECA Board of Directors. Mr. Bruce answered God's call to teach at ECA so that he could inspire each band student to learn that every talent and all true knowledge come from God and should be utilized for His glory. Mrs. Marie Burley, BA, Ballet: University of Utah; M.A., Production Management: University of Utah
Prior to teaching Geography, American History 8, and French I and II at ECA, Mrs. Burley taught at the University of Utah, substitute taught, and traveled the world. "The goal of Christian education is to glorify God by equipping students with necessary skills within the framework of Christianity. Mr. Brent Holtcamp, B.A., K-12 Education: University of Southern Colorado
Mr. Holtcamp has been involved in the ministry of ECA since 1978 and is excited to see that at ECA the potential for glorifying God through the students and the school is limitless. In addition to teaching Junior High Art, Art I, II, III, and Studio Art, Mr. Holtcamp maintains a jewelry design and repair business in his home. Mrs. Karen Leidecker, B.A. summa cum laude, K-8 Education: Tennessee Temple University
Mrs. Leidecker has taught at ECA since 1995 after teaching elementary through high school in several Christian schools in various states. She teaches Life Science, Earth Science, Anatomy & Physiology, Pre-Algebra 8, and Business Math. Mrs. Jill Mann, B.A., History with Political Science minor: Geneva College
Mrs. Mann has joined the ECA faculty to teach Latin, having also taught it in home school classes and to her own children. Mrs. Minta Milvain, B.A., Mathematics: University of Tennessee
Mrs. Milvain has previously taught mathematics and Biblical studies in Virginia, Tennessee, and Australia, and currently teaches Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and Logic at ECA. Her two daughters attend ECA. Mr. Richard Oliver, M.B.A.: UCCS; Engineering: Air Force Institute of Technology and University of New Mexico
Having previously taught at the Air Force Academy and Colorado Technical University, Mr. Oliver teaches Geometry, Algebra 1 and II, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus at ECA. Mrs. Sarah Perkett
Mrs. Perkett grew up in Spain and continued to study the Spanish language and culture throughout high school. Mrs. Perkett was a homeschooling mom for twelve years, and daughter Tabitha graduated from ECA and two sons Andrew and Samuel currently attend ECA. In addition to teaching Spanish I and II at ECA, Mrs. Perkett and her husband coach the Girls' Varsity Soccer team. "My prayer is that the students I touch may one day be able to use the Spanish language to reach others for God's glory. Miss Jessica Reid, B.A., Biology and Chemistry: University of Colorado, Colorado Springs
Miss Reid is a 2008 graduate of the University of Colorado and a 2004 graduate of Evangelical Christian Academy. In her first year teaching at ECA, Miss Reid teaches Physical Science, Biology I, Chemistry I, and AP Chemistry. "I am very excited to begin my career teaching science at ECA. Mrs. Leslie Schwager, B.A., Literature major, Speech minor: University of Texas of the Permian Basin
Mrs. Schwager has 13 years of teaching experience in public and classical Christian home-education, most recently teaching Classical Writing and Poetry courses, Traditional Logic, Aristotle's Rhetoric, and Economics at Collegium Study Center. At ECA she teaches Rhetoric which includes The Argument Builder. "I desire to give our students the tools they need to write and speak persuasively for the glory of God. Mr. Joel Swearingen, B.A., Interdisciplinary Studies (Bible and English): Clearwater Christian College
Mr. Swearingen is currently finishing his Master of Arts in Religion at Reformed Theological Seminary, and prior to coming to ECA, he taught English in Amman, Jordan. He teaches Judges to Poets 8, Church History 9, World Literature 9, and Keyboarding. Miss Sandra Vollbracht, B.A., History: Covenant College/University of Colorado
Before coming to ECA in 1991, Miss Vollbracht taught at and administered Covenant Christian School in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Miss Vollbracht currently teaches World History, U.S. History, Civics, and AP US History. "Scripture is the guide for all we study and, particularly within the area of history, necessary for making sense of history and understanding its importance. Mrs. Deanna Waldron, B.A. Psychology: California State University Stanislaus
Mrs. Waldron has taught for eleven years in California and Colorado and has served in Christian schools for nine years. She enjoys her family, teaching, sports, being outdoors, and mission trips. Mrs. Waldron teaches Geography 7 and General Mathematics 7 at ECA.. Mrs. Wilson previously taught English at a Christian school in Bradenton, Florida, before coming to ECA. She teaches Logic 7 and 8, World Literature 9, and Church History, and Yearbook at ECA; and her husband Tim, works for the Navigators. Mrs. Wolfe has been a women's retreat speaker, Bible study leader, missionary in the Philippines, and on staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. She currently teaches Language Arts 7, 8, World Literature 9, and Keyboarding at ECA.
